Rachel Effron Sharma
Rachel Effron Sharma is an immigration attorney at Effron Sharma Immigration in Atlanta. Her practice areas include business and family immigration as well as appeals to the board of immigration appeals, asylum and U visas. Rachel has been practicing immigration law since 2003, and has had her own practice since 2007. She worked for Kuck Immigration Partners in Atlanta, GA from 2005 to 2007, and for Dyer Immigration Law Group in Richmond, VA from 2004 to 2005. She has spent over 11 years litigating cases in the Atlanta immigration court, and before that, in the Arlington immigration court. She is currently the secretary of the GA.-AL chapter, a member of the AILA national asylum committee and a member of the AILA GA-AL wellness committee. She is admitted to the state bar of Georgia and graduated from Ohio State University Law School in 2003. Ms. Effron Sharma received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1998. She served as the asylum committee chair for the GA-AL chapter from 2016-2018 and previously from 2006-2009. She also served as co-chairperson on the board of directors of the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN) from 2008-2010, and was on the board of directors from 2007-2012. Ms. Effron is passionate about health, wellness, and fitness. She earned a certificate in public health from Georgia State University in 2012, and she is a Community Herbalist; she earned her certification from Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine in 2017.
